Renovation of a contemporary house
Cette maison d'architecte du début des années 2000, située à Auray et dotée d'une belle hauteur sous plafond, de poutres apparentes et d'une proximité avec les plages bretonnes, ne correspondait plus aux goûts ni au mode de vie de ses propriétaires. Le projet visait à repenser la décoration pour valoriser les espaces existants et mieux refléter la personnalité des habitants, en s'inspirant de leurs souvenirs de vacances au bord de mer.
L'ambiance s'articule autour du noir, évoquant les maisons du littoral, associé à un bleu profond (entre bleu canard et bleu nuit) qui illumine l'entrée, autrefois sombre, transformée en cocon chaleureux. Le sol en carrelage a été remplacé par un béton ciré gris anthracite, et l'appareillage électrique par la gamme Confidence de Modelec en laiton canon de fusil, pour une finition sobre et raffinée.
Dans l'entrée, une banquette sur mesure a été conçue sous l'escalier pour optimiser le rangement, et l'escalier lui-même a été repensé. Le salon a été entièrement revisité dans le même esprit vacances.
Une attention particulière a été portée à l'artisanat et à l'éthique, avec des chaises fabriquées à la main en Bourgogne par Berfey (mobilier durable et responsable, Made in France), et un mélange de matières naturelles (lin, rotin, bois massif, laine) et plus sophistiquées (velours, métal brut).
La cuisine introduit une troisième couleur, un vert kaki en accent, adouci par une crédence en zellige blanc. À l'étage, la mezzanine a été optimisée avec un coin bureau sur mesure et une bibliothèque courant le long de la trémie, donnant une fonction utile à cet espace auparavant inexploité.
This architect-designed house from the early 2000s, located in Auray and featuring beautiful ceiling heights, exposed beams and close proximity to the Breton beaches, no longer matched the tastes or lifestyle of its owners. The project aimed to rethink the interior design in order to enhance the existing spaces and better reflect the personality of the inhabitants, drawing inspiration from their seaside holiday memories.
The atmosphere is built around black, evoking coastal houses, combined with a deep blue shade (between teal and midnight blue) that brightens the entrance, previously dark, which has been transformed into a warm and welcoming cocoon. The tiled floor was replaced with anthracite grey polished concrete, and the electrical fittings were replaced with the Confidence range by Modelec in gunmetal brass, providing a refined and understated finish.
In the entrance, a custom-made bench was designed beneath the staircase to optimise storage, while the staircase itself was redesigned. The living room was completely reimagined in the same holiday-inspired spirit.
Particular attention was given to craftsmanship and sustainability, with chairs handmade in Burgundy by Berfey (durable, responsible and Made in France furniture), combined with a mix of natural materials (linen, rattan, solid wood and wool) and more sophisticated finishes (velvet and raw metal).
The kitchen introduces a third colour, a khaki green used as an accent shade, softened by a white zellige tile backsplash. Upstairs, the mezzanine was optimised with a custom-made workspace and a library running along the stair opening, giving a useful purpose to this previously underused area.
